Tamesna is one of the newest towns in Morocco, located about twenty kilometers to the southwest of Rabat. Created as part of an ambitious urban development project, Tamesna perfectly illustrates the Morocco vision for the future of its infrastructure and land planning. This city, still expanding, is designed to meet the growing demand for housing and to offer a modern living environment for its inhabitants.
The Tamesna project was launched in the early 2000s with the aim of relieving pressure on large cities such as Rabat and Casablanca. The Moroccan government, in collaboration with private and public investors, envisioned this new town as a solution to avoid overpopulation and to provide affordable housing. Tamesna thus arose from an urgent need for urban planning, aimed at addressing the challenges of rapid urbanization.
Tamesna covers an area of more than 840 hectares and is designed to accommodate around 250,000 inhabitants. The town includes residential areas, commercial infrastructures, green spaces, schools, and health centers. One of the main objectives of the project was to create a sustainable town, with particular attention paid to the environment and the quality of life of its residents.
The construction of Tamesna was carried out in phases, with the implementation of a rigorous master plan to ensure that each development phase meets quality and sustainability standards. The first homes were delivered in 2007, and since then the town has continued to grow. Authorities have put in place basic infrastructures such as roads, water and electricity networks to attract residents and investors.
One of the remarkable aspects of Tamesna is its modern architecture. The town combines contemporary styles with traditional Moroccan elements, thus creating a unique environment that reflects both the country’s history and its future. Residential buildings are designed to be functional and aesthetic, offering comfortable and affordable housing for all segments of the population.
In addition to housing and basic infrastructures, Tamesna stands out for its green spaces and parks. The town’s plan provides for the creation of numerous leisure areas for families, in order to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. These green spaces are not only places for relaxation but also play a crucial role in the town’s ecological management, contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
Connectivity is another major asset of Tamesna. The town is well served by a modern road network, facilitating access to Rabat and other major cities in the region. Moreover, public transport development projects are underway to further improve residents’ mobility and reduce dependence on private cars.
Today, Tamesna continues to develop, attracting new residents and businesses. The town is perceived as a symbol of Morocco’s urban future, a place that combines modernity and tradition while meeting the needs of future generations. With its modern infrastructures, pleasant living environment and economic opportunities, Tamesna is destined to become an important urban center in the region.
