On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) characterized the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak as a “pandemic.”
Morocco is among the affected countries.
The state of health emergency, in effect in Morocco since March 20, 2020, has been extended until November 10 (this measure is renewable). As part of the state of emergency, Morocco’s air, land and sea borders are closed.
However, Morocco has authorized the resumption of air and sea connections to allow certain categories of people to enter Moroccan territory and to leave it. These are:
- Moroccan citizens, regardless of their situation,
- Foreign citizens with resident status in Morocco. Immediate family members (spouses and children) of Moroccan citizens and of French residents in Morocco, regardless of their nationality, are authorized to enter the territory upon presentation of a certificate that will be issued to them by the Moroccan Consulate in France closest to their place of residence (documents to be presented to the consulate: copy of the family member’s residence card and a document proving the family relationship).
- Foreign citizens traveling to Morocco for an official mission or on behalf of a private company, provided they present a copy of the supporting document issued by the establishment that invited them. This supporting document must be stamped by the company and signed by an official with all the information concerning the traveler (passport number, RC, purpose of the visit, place of accommodation, etc.)
- Foreign citizens exempt from visa formalities who have a confirmed reservation at a hotel establishment.
All persons traveling to Morocco must present at check-in a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old.
It is important to take into account all restrictive measures implemented in Morocco before planning any travel there.
French nationals in difficulty are invited to contact the nearest French consulate general to their place of stay (telephone numbers are listed on the travel advice for Morocco).
They are also recommended to contact their insurance or assistance company to verify validity in Morocco and, if applicable, the extent of the medical coverage subscribed, particularly regarding hospitalization and repatriation.
Other measures may be implemented. It is recommended to follow the recommendations of local authorities and to consult the website of the French Embassy in Morocco.
