Essaouira is a coastal city located on the west coast of Morocco, in the Marrakech-Safi region. It is famous for its Mediterranean architecture, its fine sandy beaches, its historical fortifications, and its vibrant cultural life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city was founded in the 18th century by the Moorish sultans and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Essaouira’s old town is a maze of cobbled streets lined with white and blue houses, with rooftop terraces and wrought-iron balconies. The city’s ramparts, which date back to the period of Portuguese colonization, offer stunning views over the town and the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city is also an important cultural hub, with numerous festivals, such as the Gnaoua World Music Festival, which attracts internationally renowned artists and thousands of visitors every year. Essaouira is also a favorite spot for local artists and musicians, who perform in the city’s caf\u00e9s and restaurants throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
