Tetouan is a city located in northern Morocco, about 120 kilometers from Tangier. It is considered one of the oldest cities in the country and was founded in the 8th century. Tetouan is also known as the historical capital of the Rif region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city is famous for its rich historical and cultural heritage. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997 because of its many historic buildings, such as the Medersa Bou Inania, a Quranic school built in the 14th century, and Uta el-Hammam Square, which houses many important buildings from the medieval period. Tetouan is also renowned for its local artisans who continue Moroccan craft traditions, notably leatherwork, pottery, and ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Economically, Tetouan is an important center for the textile and clothing industry, with many factories and garment workshops. The city is also an important transit point for merchants and travelers between Morocco, North Africa and Spain, with numerous ports and border crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
