Ramadan is the sacred month for Muslims, it is a time of prayer, fasting and reflection. In Morocco, this month is very important and religious practices are very prominent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are required to fast from dawn to sunset. This means they cannot eat, drink or smoke throughout the day. Meals are taken before dawn and after sunset. The first meal is called the “S’hour” and the second meal is called “F’tour”. The breaking of the fast is often accompanied by dates and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramadan is also a time of prayer and reflection. Mosques are filled with worshippers for the evening prayer called “Tarawih”. Believers also read the Quran and attend religious lectures. Moroccans also take advantage of this month to renew their faith and improve their religious practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides the religious aspect, Ramadan is also a time of conviviality and sharing. Families and friends gather to break the fast and share traditional dishes. The streets and souks are lively at night with musicians and storytellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramadan also has an economic impact on the country. Moroccans spend more money during this month to buy food, clothing and gifts. Businesses take advantage to launch advertising campaigns and offer discounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
