The city is renowned for its rich history, majestic architecture and ancient customs. <strong>The medina of Fes, also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site<\/strong>, is a true maze of alleys where artisans, merchants and scholars mingle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of Fes&#8217;s main attractions is <strong>Al Quaraouiyine University<\/strong>, founded in 859 by <strong>Fatima al-Fihri<\/strong>. It is the oldest continuously operating university in the world and a major center of Islamic learning. This institution attests to Fes&#8217;s role as an intellectual center of the <strong>Islamic world<\/strong>. The Al Quaraouiyine mosque, adjacent to the university, is a masterpiece of <strong>Islamic architecture<\/strong>, with its <strong>horseshoe arches<\/strong>, colorful mosaics and finely carved wooden sculptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The architecture of Fes<\/strong> is a blend of <strong>Andalusian, Arab and Berber influences. The riads<\/strong>, with their inner courtyards and colorful zellige tiles, are typical examples of this architecture. The medina also houses magnificent gates, such as <strong>Bab Boujloud<\/strong>, with its blue and green mosaic patterns, which is one of the main entrances to the old city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The landscapes around Fes<\/strong> are varied, ranging from verdant hills to fertile plains. The region is known for its olive trees and vineyards, as well as for its thermal springs, such as those of<strong> Moulay Yacoub<\/strong>, which attract many visitors seeking relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The customs and traditions of Fes<\/strong> are still very much alive today. The Fassi are known for their <strong>craftsmanship<\/strong>, notably the production of ceramics, carpets and silk garments.
