Islam was introduced to <strong>Morocco<\/strong> in the 7th century, and since then has become an essential part of the national identity. This religion has shaped <strong>Moroccan<\/strong> values, customs and <strong>traditions<\/strong>, influencing everything from architecture and the arts to laws and education.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Islamic architecture is one of the most visible manifestations of Islamic influence in Morocco<\/strong>.<strong> Mosques<\/strong>, with their<strong> slender minarets, majestic domes<\/strong> and spacious courtyards, are emblematic symbols of Islamic culture. Notable examples include<strong> the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca<\/strong>, one of the largest mosques in the world, and the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, a perfect example of Almohad architecture. These buildings are not only places of worship, but also cultural and social centers where Muslims gather to pray, learn and discuss.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong> Islamic calligraphy<\/strong> is another important aspect of<strong> Islamic<\/strong> culture<strong> in Morocco<\/strong>. Due to the ban on the depiction of living beings in traditional Islamic art, calligraphy has become a highly respected art form. <strong>Verses from the Koran<\/strong>, often written in Arabic calligraphy, adorn the walls of mosques, everyday objects and precious manuscripts. This art form is not only an expression of faith, but also a means of preserving the Arabic language and conveying spiritual and moral messages.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Andalusian music<\/strong>, another heritage of Islamic culture, occupies a special place in <strong>Morocco<\/strong>. This music, which originated in <strong>medieval Andalusia<\/strong>, was preserved and enriched in <strong>Morocco<\/strong> after the Reconquista. It is characterized by the use of instruments such as the <strong>oud, qanun and rebab, and its melodies are often accompanied by poetry sung in classical Arabic<\/strong>. Andalusian music is played at cultural festivals, weddings and other celebrations, recalling the golden age of Islamic culture in Spain.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Islamic education<\/strong> also played a central role in the development of <strong>Moroccan society<\/strong>. <strong>Madrassas (religious schools)<\/strong> were centers of learning where students learned not only the religious sciences, but also secular subjects such as mathematics, astronomy and medicine. <strong>The Bou Inania madrassa in Fez and the Ben Youssef madrassa in Marrakech<\/strong> are outstanding examples of these institutions, renowned for their magnificent architecture and rich intellectual history.<\/p>\n\n<p>Islamic culture has also influenced Moroccan customs and traditions. <strong>Religious practices, <\/strong>such as daily prayers, <strong>the Ramadan fast and the pilgrimage to Mecca<\/strong>, are fundamental aspects of Moroccan life. Religious holidays, such as <strong>Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha<\/strong>, are celebrated with fervor, bringing families and friends together for moments of sharing and spirituality.  <\/p>\n\n<p>However, <strong>Islamic culture in Morocco<\/strong> is not monolithic. It coexists with Berber, Arab and European influences, creating a unique cultural mosaic.
